Dr. Ohhira and other scientists have found that the excessive use of antibiotics has led to the creation of new strains of "smart" bacteria that have become resistant to antibotics. To combat these new harmful invaders, Dr. Ohhira's team developed a special strain of friendly lactic acid bacteria that was sucessfully isolated from the Malaysian culinary soy-based food-tenpeh. This special E. faecalis TH10 strain has been found during in vitro studies to be effective against the most potent antibiotic resistant MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureaus) smartbug, as well as E. Coli 0157 (cause of food poisoning).
